Nomads can look back with pride at what has been achieved after 53 years of involvement in the Furtherance of Golf in South Africa and the way Nomads is held in high esteem by the four main Amateur bodies in South Africa, being the South African Golf Association, Women’s Golf South Africa, South African Disabled Golf Association and the South African Golf Development Board.

The development of the game in South Africa is one of Nomads basic aims and objectives and as such our input into this area though involvement with the major bodies has steadily increased over the years.

SAGA-Junior Golf

The South African Junior Golf Foundation amalgamated with SAGA in January 2011 and SAGA-Junior Golf was formed. Nomads has steadily increased the sponsorship to SAGA-Junior Golf and this has resulted is Nomads having the title sponsorship of all the Boys National age group tournaments as well as the five National Order of Merit Tournaments that are played around the country.

Our relationship with Woman’s Golf continues to strengthen every year. It is amazing to see how much the ladies appreciate what we do for them and they go out of their way to accommodate us whenever they can. Our strong relationship has meant that we can partner with WGSA and sponsor the annual Rose Bowl Tournament. A highlight for Nomads is the sponsorship of the SA Girls U18.

Disabled Golf

Nomads’ assists with the Provincial Challenge and we now have the title sponsorship of this event. We are very proud of our association with the SADGA FSP (First Swing Program). This is a program that allows severely disabled children to learn about the game of golf and when you see the joy of a disabled child sink their first putt it makes everything we do very humbling and worthwhile.

This makes up the fourth leg of our partnerships.
There are ongoing discussions to find a project that fits both the requirements of the
SAGDB (The South African Golf Development Board) and Nomads. Development Golf is very important to the future of golf and we as Nomads acknowledge that whilst looking forward to a future of close involvement with the SAGDB.

Flying the Nomads flag high in South African Golf!
